Recruitment Consultant

Tarson Ltd is a small, niche executive search practice that has been successfully working specifically within a narrow sector of the property market, Town Planning for over a decade. The Tarson Directors pride themselves on thinking outside of the box and organically building a successful business model that does not always conform to the typical 'recruitment agency’ model. Our place in the market fills the gap between contingency recruiters and corporate executive search firms. 

Rather than just filling a vacancy by awaiting CV applications, we also take a far more proactive approach by researching, identifying and actively sourcing excellent calibre candidates who suit our client’s needs. This places Tarson right in between your typical recruitment agencies and targeted head-hunters. Tarson is continually evolving and as a result, we are now on the lookout for a new motivated team member.

Job Description:

Working alongside the Tarson Directors, meeting with prospective clients, meeting candidates and building the company portfolio.

Understanding and developing (through training/mentoring) a sound knowledge of the industry that we specialise in, Town Planning, will be an essential part of this role.

Being confident and dynamic on the telephone, with an excellent manner; this role will involve introducing yourself and the company to new prospective candidates daily to discuss opportunities.

Researching relevant candidates in the market and compiling comprehensive lists of potential candidates for further suitability, analysis and shortlisting. This will include: using various sources including databases/internet/personal research etc. to form detailed reports. Actively contacting potential candidates via telephone/email/face to face and via internet sources.

Database maintenance: building relationships with candidates to keep up to date on their availability for future employment opportunities, to discuss current vacancies that may interest them and to remain knowledgeable about their specific job requirements and preferences – all the while keeping a personal touch!

Identifying candidate’s skills to match appropriately with current vacancies.

Over time, developing a sound knowledge and understanding of Tarson clients that we provide a service to, and what type of candidates suit their business needs. From this, you will begin to identify candidates who match not only a vacancy specification, but also those who fit in with a client’s company culture and business model perfectly.

Liaising with clients and candidates to manage the entire process including setting up interviews, providing feedback to both parties, and ultimately successfully assisting in placing candidates into new positions of work! Using business development and marketing techniques to promote Tarson vacancies.

Advertising of vacancies and drafting job specifications. Briefing candidates about the responsibilities, salary, benefits of job opportunities relevant to them.

Learning the concepts of successful Headhunting - identifying and discreetly approaching suitable candidates who may well already be employed and not actively seeking a new job.

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience within a sales and/or target driven role 

  • Recruitment/Headhunting experience (desirable although not essential)

  • Being comfortable working within a small team of 2/3 people at any time 

  • Confident, tenacious, target driven and self-sufficient.

  • Well presented.

  • Excellent telephone manner.

  • Ability to develop and maintain key relationships with candidates and eventually clients.

  • Excellent IT skills: MS Office to intermediate level. (Training will be provided on our internal recruitment database).

  • Experience in diary management.

  • Excellent research skills and ability to think outside of the box.

  • Ability to manage own workload, prioritise effectively and deliver excellent quality work under pressure.
