Job Purpose
To lead on Sales activity for my client within the Defence and Security Cleared sectors, identifying new opportunities, developing existing clients with strong footprints in this area, using existing and identifying new service solutions and model for these customers.
To act as the Sector Subject Matter Expert for the Defence area in this important business niche for my client.
To deliver new business targets for my client, whilst determining the strategy for growth and providing leadership and expertise where required to the Operational team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
In tandem with the Directors, other Business Development Managers and Account Directors, devise strategic direction for my client to ensure continuing growth and profitability of the company
Devise effective and innovative service offerings to meet Clients needs
Devising effective processes and procedures to keep sales and delivery as the focus for all
To advise the board of key issues that need attention or input and to implement the strategic direction from the board
To contribute towards the development of the company as a whole and to help develop the strategy for overall business growth
Sales and Delivery
Develop the strategy for new solutions business and major niche accounts within the Defence, Security Cleared to ensure that the team achieves (or exceeds) budgeted revenue and OP targets
Act as the primary liaison point for the bid/marketing team and with Accounts Directors/Branch Managers to ensure transfer and action on sales leads
Responsible for managing specific major account bid activity leading to successful major account wins within agreed levels of profitability.
People
Responsibility for effective and constructive conflict management, providing and interface with the board and other parts of the group to ensure effective working across the group.
Providing inspirational leadership for related team members to ensure achievement of individual and team targets
Provision of on-going mentoring, coaching and training to direct reports and those assigned for mentoring purposes
To ensure staff and team competencies are brought in line with the agreed company standards in order to equip the company with the right level of skills to stay ahead of the competition today and in the future
Maintaining Client and Applicant records to the standards laid down by the Employment Agencies Act, the Quality Management System and the Elan Client and Contractor administration process manual.
Knowledge and Information Sharing
To attend Management meetings and contribute to company development by sharing knowledge, best practice and information across the group
To act as a link between the back office functions such as IT and Accounts to ensure these departments provide adequate support to the sales and implementation teams
To liaise and work closely with Marketing in order to obtain valuable market information and to use this to full advantage
Innovation and Creativity
Thinking laterally and creatively in order to identify new business opportunities, whilst deploying employees in response to these opportunities to be ahead of the game
Devising creative processes, procedures, systems and initiatives that will ensure an increase in productivity and revenue and the flexible use of staff and resources
Person Specification
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
Excellent motivational/leadership skills
Previous experience of Solution-led sales opportunities
Excellent knowledge of the Defence industry and the all sub-divisions of the market, including commercial engagement practices and trends
Demonstrable track record of accurately forecasting and successfully managing demanding budgets
Experience of devising delivery models
Staff training and development skills and experience
Previous experience and success in key target account sales
Ability to learn quickly and to work with initiative
